Yamini Mudaliar is an ISRO scientist who is the project director of Chandrayaan 2. However, just a few kilometers away from the south pole of the moon, Chandrayaan 2 could not land properly. Furthermore, ISRO's plan to run Vikram Rover onto the moon was not achieved. However, with Chandryaan 3, India still became the first country to land on South Pole of the moon.
Now, coming back to Yamini Mudaliar, Shriya Saran's character seems to be inspired by Muthayya Vanitha aka M. Vanitha.
According to reports, M. Vanitha served as the Project Director for ISRO's Chandrayaan-2 mission. According to reports, Vanitha was the first woman to lead an interplanetary mission at ISRO, overseeing the project from inception to completion, including spacecraft development and integration.
With 32 years at ISRO, Vanitha managed hardware testing, telemetry, and prior satellites like Cartosat-1 before this role.
Hailing from Chennai, she was also awarded for Best Woman Scientist by the Astronomical Society of India in 2006.
