The story reportedly spans two timelines one rooted in the ancient Vijayanagar era and the other set in present day in order to trace the mythic roots of vampirism in Indian folklore. The narrative centers on Alok Goyal (Ayushmann Khurrana), a historian driven to unearth hidden truths, and Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna), whose fate becomes entwined with him amid supernatural conflicts.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is expected to play the primary antagonist (Yakshasan or “Yakshana”), while veteran actor Paresh Rawal also features in a key role. Under the direction of Aditya Sarpotdar known for Munjya Thama aims to weave humor and horror seamlessly, offering a fresh tonal shift in Maddock’s existing universe.
The teaser was released in August 2025 and now all the talks are about its OTT release.
Thamais slated to release in theatres around Diwali, specifically on October 21, 2025 to coincide with the festive season. The October window is already being highlighted as a major theatrical month packed with several high‑profile releases.
