5 real life references in The Bads of Bollywood

1) An indirect dig at Sameer Wankhede

In episode 1 of The Bads of Bollywood, a fictional police officer with a fictional NCG department has been showcased. Social media users believe that Aryan Khan took a dig at former NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) officer Sameer Wankhede.

In the particular scene, the actor who looks quite similar to Sameer Wankhede raids a success party of Bollywood. To be more precise, Aasmaan Singh's movie Revolver Success party.

At the success party, the officer nabs a DJ who was smoking joints. But, after seeing a famous Bollywood star he arrests him and leave the DJ who was actually smoking.

For those who are unware, it was Sameer Wankhede who arrested Aryan Khan in a drug case. Later, drugs case against Aryan Khan was dismissed by the court.

2) Karan Johar- a movie mafia

After the grand success of Aasmaan Singh's debutant movie Revolver, Karan Johar casts him in his revenge love story opposite- Karishma Talvar played by actress Sahher Bambba who is a 'nepo kid'.

Karishma informs Karan Johar that he should help Aasmaan in the tiff against another producer Freddy.

After Aasmaan visits Dharma Productions, Karan Johar comes down heavily on him. Then, Karan Johar uses a term 'movie mafia' for himself.

Interestingly, the term movie mafia was given to Karan Johar during his show Koffee with Karan by actress Kangana Ranaut.

3) Filmfirst Awards

The Bads of Bollywood showcased a fictional award ceremony named Filmfirst Awards. Interestingly, going by the name and the set up that have been used to showcase the Filmfirst Award resemble to Filmfare Awards.

Aasmaan Singh wins the Best Actor award for his movie Revolver in the Filmfirst Award.

4) New actors Roundtable

The Bads of Bollywood further showcases a Roundtable talk show of new actors and actresses. During the roundtable, Aasmaan Singh roasts Karishma Talwar for being a nepo kid. For those who are unaware, Karishma Talwar is the daughter of Bollywood superstar Ajay Talwar played by Bobby Deol.

Interestingly, Aasmaan Singh's comment on Karishma over nepotism sounds much similar to the real life episode between Siddhant Chaturvedi's comment on Ananya Panday.

For the unversed, during the Newcomer’s Roundtable 2019 hosted by film critic Rajeev Masand, when Ananya was asked if it was easy for star kids to crack their Bollywood debut, the Pati Patni Aur Woh actor said how her father Chunky Pandey has “never worked in a Dharma film or been on Koffee With Karan”.

Ananya Panday said, “When people hate on me for nepotism, I am not going to shy away from the fact that I am Chunky Pandey’s daughter. My father has really worked hard. When Student of the Year 2 got delayed by a year, my dad actually didn’t even congratulate me till the film released because that’s how fickle the industry is. That’s how dispensable people are. Anything can happen, it can get shelved. It can release after years and he knows that. Mine has been a lot of personal experience, I have seen my dad go through so many things that I don’t take anything too seriously. I overcompensate sometimes. I am so scared that people may say that ‘oh you are taking things too lightly’ so I will come extra early to places. I am so happy that I have this chance.”

On this, Siddhant Chaturvedi interrupted Ananya Panday and said, “Everyone has their own struggle. The only difference is ‘jahan humare sapne poore hote hain, wahan inka struggle shuru hota hai (their struggle begins where our dreams are fulfilled).”

5) Gafoor Ismail

Actor Arshad Warsi plays the character of underworld don Gafoor Ismail. Therefore, Bads of Bollywood also showcases the reality of underworld's shadow on Bollywood on a lighter note.
