7 Advocates approved as Judges of Punjab and Haryana HC; Check list

All these seven are experienced legal professionals who have been practicing in the field of law and are now set to take on judicial responsibilities

In an important development for the judiciary the Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of seven advocates as judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the decision was taken during the Collegium’s meeting that was held on May 4, 2026.

According to the official statement the advocates whose names have been cleared for elevation to the bench include Monica Chhibber Sharma, Harmeet Singh Deol, Puja Chopra, Sunish Bindlish, Navdeep Singh, Divya Sharma and Shri Ravinder Malik and all these seven are experienced legal professionals who have been practicing in the field of law and are now set to take on judicial responsibilities.

With the appointment of new judges which comes during a situation where the court systems in the whole nation especially the Punjab and Haryana High Court are facing a huge backlog of cases and increasing the number of judges will assist in clearing out the backlog of cases faster and with this development there will be an improvement in the performance of the judicial system since a larger number of judges in the bench means a faster hearing and decision-making process and further information will be available shortly about the official swearing-in ceremony of the new judges.
