72-hour 'war on gangsters': Police encounters reported in Mandi Gobindgarh and Amritsar

As a part of the operation, police raids are underway at various locations with an aim to crack down on gangsters over the next 72 hours.

The Punjab Police has launched a startling attack on gangsters under the ‘War on Gangsters’ campaign. As a part of the operation, police raids are underway at various locations with an aim to crack down on gangsters over the next 72 hours.

An encounter took place in Mandi Gobindgarh, where gangster Shiva was shot by Punjab Police during a gunfight. It is being reported that the gangster has got injured during the retaliatory firing. SSP Fatehgarh Sahib Shubham Agarwal shared details reading the incident. As per reports, the accused had attempted to flee from police custody and got injured later during the encounter. The injured accused was taken to a hospital for treatment.  

As per reports, the accused had a total of 9 FIRs registered against him which included the charges of robbery, weapon related offenses and NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act) violations.

A similar incident has been reported from Amritsar as well where a notorious gangster Mani Prince was killed in a police encounter.
