₹72 lakh robbery in Jalandhar’s Surya Enclave solved; 6 arrested & cash recovered

Jalandhar Police crack ₹72 lakh Surya Enclave heist, recover full amount and nab six accused within 24 hours

Jalandhar Police have claimed to have solved the ₹72 lakh robbery case reported in the Surya Enclave area five days ago. Police have arrested six people in connection with the case and recovered the entire ₹72 lakh, along with two cars and two mobile phones.

₹72 lakh recovered

Police Commissioner Satinder Singh said the case was traced in less than 24 hours and the recovered ₹72 lakh was handed back to businessman Lalit by the Police Commissioner.

6 arrests made

The arrested accused have been identified as Vikas, a resident of Guru Nanak Colony in Gurdaspur; Hardeep alias Deepu, a resident of village Badala in Kapurthala; Sahil, a resident of Batala in Gurdaspur; Rajveer Gill, a resident of Maqsudan; Ranjit Singh, a resident of Batala; and Sunny Khosla, a resident of Amardas Nagar.

Recce conducted

According to the police, the robbery was carried out after the accused allegedly conducted a recce of the area and the investigation revealed that the accused had reached the spot on August 13, before the robbery, to check the location and identify a suitable place for carrying out the crime.

What really happended?

The police said businessman Lalit was travelling in his car when the accused allegedly hit his vehicle and then attacked his car, took the cash and fled from the spot.

One-and-a-half month long prep

The investigation further revealed that the accused had allegedly been preparing for the robbery for around one to one-and-a-half months and police said a vehicle was also hired for carrying out the crime.

Police reveal alleged role of main accused

According to the police, Sunny Khosla and his relative Hardeep were identified as the main accused in the alleged conspiracy, police added Sunny was not present at the spot when the robbery took place, however, investigators alleged that he was overseeing the planning of the operation.

The police also said that an accused from Batala was allegedly provided ₹3 lakh for carrying out the robbery.

What happened after robbery?

After the robbery, four of the accused allegedly stayed at a house near Vidhipur railway crossing and during this period, Hardeep allegedly told the other accused that the bag contained only ₹50 lakh, according to the police investigation.

The police said the accused then divided ₹13 lakh each among themselves and the investigation also revealed that ₹12 lakh was allegedly given to the accused identified as Sunny Khosla, police further said that some of the accused spent part of the money on purchasing clothes after the robbery.

Accused allegedly tried to escape

According to the police, after the robbery, the accused attempted to escape. During this process, they met with an accident and some of the accused suffered leg injuries in the incident.

The police subsequently arrested all six accused in connection with the case.

The police have recovered ₹72 lakh in cash, two cars and two mobile phones from the accused, according to the information released by the department, meanwhile, the investigation has also brought out the previous criminal record of some of the arrested accused. Police said six cases are already registered against Vikas. Cases have also been registered against Hardeep, Sahil and Rajveer, according to the police.
