In latest development in alleged fake video controversy involving Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann a delegation of AAP Punjab met senior Punjab Police officials and demanded strict legal action against those responsible for creating and circulating video.
The delegation included Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, AAP Punjab President Aman Arora, other senior party leaders, MLAs and office bearers and the delegation met DGP (Law and Order) Parveen Sinha who interacted with them on behalf of Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav and according to AAP leaders the party requested a thorough investigation into matter and sought action against all individuals involved in alleged circulation of video on social media.
The meeting was held just hours after Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Baltej Pannu held a press conference in which they claimed that the video being circulated online was fake and even alleged that the video was part of a political conspiracy aimed at defaming CM Mann and creating unrest in Punjab.
Cheema had earlier stated that independent forensic examinations of the video were conducted by laboratories outside Punjab and according to him the reports analysed facial features, height, body posture and other physical characteristics and concluded that the person seen in the very said video was not CM Mann. The AAP leadership has also linked the controversy to recent political developments in state including Punjab government's anti-sacrilege law and ongoing investigations into past sacrilege-related cases.
Mann too has strongly denied being the person shown in the video and has described the clip as fake and politically motivated and appealed to people not to be influenced by what he termed misleading propaganda.
