The much-awaited pre-poll promise made by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has finally been fulfilled, as the Punjab government announced the rollout of its long-pending scheme to provide a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 to women in the state toady. The announcement came as the Budget was tabled on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, giving the day special significance for women across Punjab.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had made a pre-poll promise to the women of Punjab to provide Rs 1,000 per month to every women in the state. A while ago, during addressing a state-level Maghi Mela gathering in Sri Muktsar Sahib, the CM asserted that the government will fulfil all the promises that have been made. The CM had assured that the provisions required to fulfil the Rs 1,000 promise will be made in the upcoming budget.
