The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will launch a statewide door-to-door outreach campaign in Punjab from September 20 as part of its preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections and announcing the campaign, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said party workers, elected representatives and senior leaders will visit households across the state to inform people about the work done by the Bhagwant Mann-led government during its four-and-a-half-year tenure and the campaign will focus on taking information about government schemes, decisions and initiatives directly to residents.
According to Sisodia, the outreach will also involve interactions with different sections of society, including youth, traders and women.
Sisodia said the campaign would focus on the work carried out by the state government and the promises and guarantees made by AAP, he also said the party would use the door-to-door exercise to communicate the government's work at the grassroots level and interact directly with people.
The issue of drugs will also be a key part of the campaign.
Sisodia said the Mann government had made tackling drug abuse a priority and had taken steps aimed at protecting Punjab's youth and he also criticised previous governments, alleging that their policies and actions had contributed to the spread of the drug problem in the state.
Education reforms will be another focus of the outreach programme.
Sisodia highlighted improvements in government schools, including modern facilities and changes aimed at improving the quality of education and said these measures had increased parents' confidence in the government school system. Unlike conventional political rallies and public meetings, the campaign will focus on direct household-level interaction. Party representatives will explain government initiatives to residents and gather feedback from the public during their visits.
The campaign comes as Punjab moves closer to the 2027 Assembly elections.
The AAP government, which took charge in March 2022, has completed four-and-a-half years in office and through the statewide drive, the party plans to strengthen its organisational presence at the grassroots level and take its government-related messaging directly to voters, senior leaders and local-level workers have both been assigned roles in the campaign, which is scheduled to begin across Punjab on September 20.
