After persistent efforts by Aam Aadmi Party's Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli, residents of Surya Enclave and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue are all set to witness long-pending development works after 18 long years.
In a major milestone, the Local Bodies Department, Government of Punjab, has approved the Matta number for transferring both colonies from the Jalandhar Improvement Trust (JIT) to the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar.
This crucial approval ensures that both colonies will now receive direct infrastructural and civic development from Jalandhar MC.
Speaking on this milestone, Nitin Kohli said he had always considered the issues of Surya Enclave and MRS Avenue as a top priority.
“These localities have been deprived of development for years. Understanding the hardships faced by residents, I consistently raised this issue at every platform. With the transfer to the Municipal Corporation, real development will finally begin. In the coming days, people will witness rapid changes on the ground. I am committed to ensuring high-quality and timely execution of all works,” said Nitin Kohli.
Mayor Vaneet Dhir also praised Nitin Kohli’s active involvement and dedication. “Nitin Kohli consistently pursued this matter and never missed a single meeting or follow-up. It is because of his efforts that this major decision could be finalized. The Municipal Corporation will now prioritize development in both colonies,” he stated.
Residents have long been facing serious issues such as non-functional street lights, poor sewage systems, damaged roads, etc. With the official transfer initiated, these challenges are set to be resolved.
Nitin Kohli confirmed that the colonies will soon see new roads, modern roundabouts, upgraded street lighting systems, revamped parks, and even a new sports stadium, all of which were neglected for several years.
This achievement has been made possible through the coordinated efforts of Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli, Jalandhar Mayor Vaneet Dhir, Jalandhar Improvement Trust Chairman Ramani Randhawa.
The initiative also received strong support from Dr. Ravjot, Local Bodies Minister, Ashok Mittal, Rajya Sabha Member & Chancellor, Lovely Professional University.
