Passengers using Adampur Airport should be prepared for possible changes in flight schedules as runway work is expected to begin after November this year; the airport is among four in India where civilian flight operations will be temporarily affected due to runway re-carpeting.
The other airports include Jodhpur Airport, Srinagar Airport and Pune Airport.
Adampur is a joint-use airport which basically means it is used by both the Air Force and civilian flights and needs periodic repair, resurfacing to keep it safe for all types of aircraft also since fighter jets use these runways, the quality standards are much stricter, making such maintenance necessary from time to time.
Adampur air base is considered strategically important because of its location near the Pakistan border and its role in military operations and also because of this the maintenance work here is taken very seriously and planned carefully.
Flight schedules may change once the work begins
Some flights could be delayed, rescheduled or temporarily stopped
Exact dates and full schedule are yet to be announced
Authorities are expected to share detailed updates closer to the time
If you’re planning to travel from Adampur later this year keep the following things in mind:
Check flight status before heading to the airport
Stay updated with airline announcements
Keep alternative travel options in mind
For now, flights are running normally, but disruptions are likely once the runway work starts after November.
