After red alert, Punjab districts including Jalandhar, Ludhiana put on 'heavy rainfall' alert on September 2

It seems like rain is likely to continue in Jalandhar and other districts of Punjab as predicted by IMD Chandigarh even on September 2, 2025.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit on Monday issued a new weather prediction and once again it put multiple districts of Punjab on heavy rainfall alert.

Multiple districts of Punjab were put on red alert on September 1 by the IMD. However, the city of Jalandhar was hit by rainfall around 11:30 pm on Sunday night. As the time passed, the rainfall started to become heavier and heavier.

As a result, most of areas of Jalandhar witnessed waterlogging. Even the posh areas like Model Town, Central Town, Defence Colony, Adarsh ​​Nagar witnessed severe water-logging.

September 2- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kaputhala, Jalandhar, Moga, Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Sangrur, and Barnala on orange alert for 'heavy to very heavy rainfall'.

The rest of the districts are on yellow alert for tomorrow

September 3- Pathankot and Hoshiarpur on yellow alert

September 4- No Alert

September 5- No Alert

Punjab Flood Today

While Punjab Flood is wreaking havoc on multiple districts, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. During the phone conversation, the Governor and CM informed the Home Minister about the current situation and the steps taken by the administration for the rescue and relief of the flood-affected people.

HM Amit Shah assured that all possible help will be provided to deal with the floods.

Today, a red alert for rain has been issued in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. If there is heavy rain in the mountains, then there may be more damage due to the water of Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers. The water level in Bhakra Dam is only 6 feet less than the danger mark of 1680 feet. Due to this, the flood gates of the dam have been opened by 4-4 feet.

At the same time, water is also being released continuously from Sukhna Lake after which the water level of Ghaggar has increased. Furthermore, an alert has been issued in Zirakpur and Patiala. The water level of Ravi is also continuously increasing in Ajnala, Amritsar.
