A BSF operation held in Harar Khurd village of Ajnala led to recovery of guns, pistols, ammunition and bulletproof jacket. According to the information, one person was arrested along with firearms. These included 1 AK47, 25 pistols, 47 magazines and 378 live rounds. This operation was successful when BSF’S 117th Battalion got control of an Indian who is accused to have the firearms. Last night, 18 June the 117th battalion received a tip off about an Indian national carrying dangerous firearms in Harar Khurd village in Ajnala,Amritsar.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly revealed information that led security forces to the recovery of a significant stockpile of arms. The officials believe that this recovery of arms could help uncover a larger network involved in smuggling and distribution of weapons. According to the police information, the accused is in the custody of 117th Battalion and is under security. The accused Indian is being questioned on the motive of carrying the firearms and who is involved behind this operation. The police assured that the reasons will be out soon and the security on the borders have been tightened.
The border districts of Punjab, especially Amritsar have remained sensitive for security due to their close proximity to IND-PAK borders.
