Alleged drug overdose claims life of a young kabaddi player in Jalandhar’s Udhowal village

Notably, this is the second suspected drug-related death reported from the same area in less than a month

In the Jalandhar’s village Udhowal, close to Mehatpur, a young kabaddi player passed away under suspicious circumstances. Vansh, who passed Class 12 two years ago was well-known for actively playing kabaddi since his school days. He used to compete in multiple tournaments. Although the police have not formally confirmed the cause of death, the villagers believe Vansh died from drug abuse.

Body discovered on Baloki Kheda Road

Vansh’s body was discovered near Baloki Kheda Road, near Udhowal village, where passers-by notified the village head Manpreet Singh and his family. Later, without informing the police, the family carried out his final ceremonies.

A promising life lost

Village head Manpreet Singh says that Vansh was a talented player who had represented his school in many kabaddi tournaments and brought laurels to the village. He adds that after finishing school, the youngster allegedly fell into drug abuse. Notably, this is the second suspected drug-related death reported from the same area in less than a month as on February 17, Vansh’s neighbor Jasdeep Singh Jassa also died of a suspected overdose.
