The city of Jalandhar on Tuesday morning witnessed a thick blanket of fog along with biting cold weather. Due to low difference in highest and lowest temperature, Jalandhar is witnessing shivering cold. IMD Chandigarh has also put the district of Jalandhar on orange and yellow alert for very dense to dense fog.
The extent of harsh winter in Punjab can be understood by the fact that for the past two days lowest temperature in a district has reached 0°C. For instance, Bathinda on January 12 recorded 0.6°C, while on January 13 Ballowal Saunkhri in SBS Nagar recorded 0°C.
Now, the question arises will Jalandhar 0°C in the upcoming days in January 2026?
The answer is highly unlikely. According to AccuWeather report, the lowest temperature Jalandhar is expected to witness in the upcoming days is 5°C. However, Jalandhar recorded 1°C on January 10 and January 12 as per AccuWeather.
Notably, while the city of Jalandhar and its villages are highly unlikely to record 0°C, the case is very different for Adampur.
Adampur has recorded 0°C multiple times in the past few years. In fact, on some days, the temperature is even recorded in minus in previous winter seasons.
For example, in 2013, Adampur recorded -2.4°C. In 2018, it recorded a minimum temperature of -0.8°C. Adampur comes in Jalandhar district and famous for having an Air Force Station.
However, IMD till January 19 has predicted that lowest temperature in Adampur will not touch 0°C.
Hence, if weather predictions by IMD, AccuWeather and Apple Weather App turn out to be true, neither Jalandhar nor Adampur will record 0°C in January 2026.
