Amit Shah’s Mansa visit: Red Zone declared around Jhota’s residence, 3,000 police deployed

The administration and police have made arrangements around the temporary helipad at the grain market and the route leading to the family’s residence.

The Mansa district administration has declared a two-kilometre radius around the new grain market and the residence of slain anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota a Red Zone, prohibiting drone operations ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on Tuesday. The restrictions have been imposed as part of security arrangements for Shah’s planned meeting with Jhota’s family.

Nearly 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across Mansa to maintain law and order and ensure security during the high-profile visit. The administration and police have made arrangements around the temporary helipad at the grain market and the route leading to the family’s residence.

Shah to meet Jhota’s family for 45 minutes

According to a senior officer familiar with the arrangements, Shah is expected to spend around 45 minutes with Jhota’s family. The Home Minister will land at a temporary helipad set up at the new grain market and proceed directly to the family’s residence.

After the meeting, he is scheduled to return to the helipad and leave for his next destination. The officer said Shah would not visit any other location in Mansa during the trip.

The visit comes after the killing of Parvinder Singh Jhota, an anti-drug activist from Mansa, whose death has drawn attention to the issue of drug-related concerns in Punjab. Shah’s planned meeting with the bereaved family is among the key engagements scheduled during his visit to the state.

Drone operations prohibited in designated Red Zone

The district administration’s decision to prohibit drone operations within the designated two-kilometre radius forms part of the security measures ahead of the Home Minister’s arrival. The restricted area covers the new grain market, where the temporary helipad has been established, as well as Jhota’s residence.

With thousands of police personnel deployed, security arrangements are focused on the helipad, the route between the landing site and the family’s home, and other key points across Mansa. The visit is expected to be brief, with the Home Minister scheduled to leave after meeting the family.

Shah to attend Dussehra celebrations in Ludhiana

After his Mansa engagement, Amit Shah is also scheduled to visit Ludhiana on Tuesday to attend Dussehra celebrations at Daresi Grounds.

According to the planned schedule, Shah will land at Halwara Air Force Station at around 4.30 pm, where he is expected to interact with the media. He will then attend the celebrations at Daresi Grounds.

The twin engagements in Mansa and Ludhiana are part of Shah’s scheduled visit to Punjab, with the Mansa programme centred on meeting Jhota’s family and the Ludhiana visit focused on the Dasehra event.
