Amritsar Rural Police Nab Two Alleged Shooters After Encounter, Weapons Recovered

One accused injured in retaliatory firing as police foil suspected major crime; duo allegedly linked to Europe-based gangster Amandeep Singh alias Manna.

The Amritsar Rural Police arrested two alleged shooters after an encounter in the Khalchian area of Amritsar. During the operation, police confiscated two pistols from the accused and claimed that the duo was involved in various criminal activities and was allegedly preparing to carry out a major crime. Providing details about the incident, SSP Amritsar Rural Kawalpreet Singh Chahal said that the police had received specific intelligence tip off regarding the presence of two shooters linked to foreign-based gangster Amandeep Singh alias Manna. The gangster is believed to be operating his criminal network from Europe while directing activities in Punjab through local associates.

Acting on the tip-off, police teams swiftly launched a coordinated operation and used technical surveillance along with local intelligence inputs to trace the movements of the suspects. After confirming their location, police moved in to intercept them near the Demo Canal in the Khalchian area. According to SSP Chahal, when the police team attempted to stop and question the suspects, they allegedly opened fire on the officers in an effort to escape from the arrest. The police team retaliated in self-defence, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire between both the sides.

During the encounter, one of the accused, identified as Heera Singh, sustained a bullet injury to his leg. He was immediately taken into custody and shifted to a hospital for treatment. The second accused, identified as Lovepreet Singh, was also arrested during the operation. Police investigations revealed that Heera Singh has a criminal background and is already facing a murder case. Authorities further claim that both accused were working as shooters for gangster Amandeep Singh alias Manna and were allegedly involved in executing criminal tasks on his instructions.

During the search, police recovered one .32 bore pistol and one 9mm pistol from the accused. Officials believe that the recovery of these weapons could help investigators unmask links to other criminal cases and gang-related activities in the region. SSP Chahal stated that Punjab Police is actively pursuing legal action against such gangsters operating from foreign countries and directing criminal activities in the state through locals and manipulating them for some amount of money. He added that efforts are being to bring such individuals back to India and ensuring that they face legal proceedings.

The arrested accused are currently under interrogation. Police officials believe that further questioning may lead to important revelations regarding the gang’s network, previous criminal incidents, and any planned future activities. Authorities expect more disclosures in the coming days as the investigation progresses.
