With Independence Day 2026 approaching, Punjab Police has stepped up security preparedness across the Jalandhar region, with senior police leadership conducting a detailed review of arrangements and threat perception. Following a security review in Amritsar, the senior leadership visited Jalandhar to personally assess the preparedness of the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar and Jalandhar Range.
The review covered Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (SBS Nagar), four districts that will remain under heightened security surveillance around the national celebration. The exercise comes at a time when Independence Day functions, public gatherings and movement across major urban and rural areas require coordinated policing and rapid response mechanisms.
Senior Officers Briefed on Threat Perception
The meeting brought together the Additional DGP, State Armed Police, Commissioner of Police Jalandhar, DIG Jalandhar Range, SSPs of Jalandhar Rural, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and SBS Nagar, along with Gazetted Police Officers and all Station House Officers of the concerned districts.
The broad participation reflects the scale of the security exercise. Rather than limiting the preparations to routine bandobast, the police leadership focused on understanding the prevailing threat perception and ensuring that officers at every operational level remain prepared to respond to any emerging situation.
