Attackers allegedly armed with sharp-edged weapons
A shocking incident of alleged house trespass, vandalism and an attempted attack has been reported from the Gursant Nagar area of Jalandhar, where around 25 people allegedly barged into a house and attacked its occupant.
The victim, identified as Nawazish Ali, reportedly managed to save his life by hiding inside the bathroom and holding the door shut from the inside as the attackers allegedly tried to break in.
Following information about the incident, a police team reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
Victim claims attackers were tipped off about his return
According to Nawazish Ali, a man identified as Shakir allegedly informed the group that he had returned home. Soon after, around 25 youths allegedly arrived at the house carrying sharp-edged weapons, locally referred to as daat, and forcibly entered the premises.
Fearing for his life, Ali ran inside the house and locked himself in the bathroom.
Attackers allegedly tried to break down bathroom door
The alleged attack continued even after the victim took shelter inside the bathroom. According to his account, the attackers repeatedly struck the door with sharp-edged weapons and kicked it.
The force of the assault reportedly damaged the wooden door and its hinges. Despite this, Ali managed to keep the door shut by using his hands and feet from inside, preventing the attackers from entering.
Police reach spot after vandalism complaint
Police reached Gursant Nagar after receiving information about a disturbance and alleged vandalism at the house.
Officials said that Nawazish Ali was found at the spot and accused both unidentified and known individuals of being involved in the incident.
Old dispute and money transaction angle being examined
During the preliminary inquiry, police also came across information about an earlier dispute and a possible money-related issue involving around ₹2,000.
Officials said the exact extent of damage to the house and whether any belongings were taken will become clear after the victim submits a written complaint.
CCTV footage being examined
Police are now examining CCTV footage from cameras installed around the area to identify and establish the involvement of those allegedly present during the incident.
Officials said that further legal action will be taken under the relevant provisions once the written complaint is received and the allegations are verified through the investigation.
