Two villagers from Butala died while taking a holy dip on Baisakhi; bodies recovered after 3.5-hour NDRF rescue

ASHISHPURI, Kapurthala, April 14: A tragic incident cast a shadow over Baisakhi celebrations in Kapurthala, where an uncle and his nephew drowned in the Beas River while taking a holy dip.

The deceased have been identified as Ramandeep Singh (22), son of Buta Singh, and Gurdev Singh (30), son of Tarsem Singh, residents of village Butala. Both had gone along with fellow villagers to the river stretch between Butala and Chakkoki Mand for ritual bathing on the auspicious occasion.
