According to the hotel operator, police personnel had allegedly been demanding a monthly payment of ₹20,000 from them for the past few years. The woman further claimed that she was threatened with eviction from the hotel premises when she questioned the reason behind the action. She also alleged that most CCTV cameras inside the hotel had been switched off before the incident, but one camera remained operational and captured the entire episode.

However, the police department has stated that a detailed inquiry is underway. Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans has sought a report from ASP Gazalpreet Kaur, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
