Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh, who is currently lodged in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam, was presented before a court in Amritsar on Saturday through video conferencing in connection with an ongoing case.
During the hearing, his lawyer, Rituraj Singh, raised strong objections to the chargesheet filed in the case. He described the chargesheet as “baseless” and requested the court to grant more time to carefully review the documents and submit detailed objections.
The court accepted the request and scheduled the next hearing for Tuesday. The proceedings will again take place through video conferencing.
Meanwhile, the defence side has indicated that it is also considering approaching the Punjab and Haryana High Court. They may request that Amritpal Singh be shifted to Punjab so that the trial can be conducted more conveniently.
The matter is currently under legal consideration, and further developments are expected in the next hearing.
