A serious road accident was reported near Mata Rani Chowk in Jalandhar’s Model Town area, where two cars collided, leaving a sweets shop owner narrowly escaping being run over. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed near the spot.
Innova Crashes Into Bikaner Sweets
According to preliminary information, the accident took place near Mata Rani Chowk in the Model Town area. The two cars reportedly collided with each other, following which the Innova lost control and moved towards Bikaner Sweets.
The vehicle hit a scooter parked outside the shop before crashing into the shop’s staircase railing, where it eventually came to a stop.
Shop Owner Ran to Save His Life
The sweets shop owner was reportedly standing outside the establishment when the out-of-control vehicle came towards him. Seeing the Innova approaching, he ran to save himself but fell during the escape.
According to the family, he suffered serious injuries to his ribs and leg. The incident could have resulted in a much more serious tragedy, as the vehicle came dangerously close to the shop owner.
CCTV Captures Terrifying Moment
CCTV footage from the area captured the accident and shows the Innova moving towards the shop after the collision. The footage also shows the vehicle hitting the scooter and coming to a halt near the staircase.
The collision between the two cars was reportedly so loud that the sound could be heard from a considerable distance. Hearing the impact, people from nearby areas rushed towards the shop, following which a crowd gathered at the scene.
Scooter Completely Damaged, Drivers Safe
The accident caused significant damage to both cars, while the scooter belonging to a customer was reportedly badly damaged.
The drivers of both vehicles escaped with their lives. They are said to have suffered minor injuries due to the impact. No fatality has been reported in the incident so far.
Akkhi Singh’s wife, Kiran, alleged that when the family approached the police with a complaint following the accident, a police employee allegedly asked whether her husband had died.
The remark reportedly angered the family, with Kiran questioning whether police officials were expected to respond only when someone lost their life.
She said the accident was severe, claiming that the impact was strong enough to burst the vehicle’s tyres and damage the shop’s platform.
Police Begin Investigation
Police from Model Town Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and initiated an investigation.
Police officer Lakhvir Singh said officials had received information about a collision involving two cars and reached the location. According to him, the vehicles involved were an Innova and a Kia.
He said complaints from both sides have been received and the matter is currently under investigation. The officer confirmed that after the collision, the Innova went towards the Bikaner Sweets showroom and crashed into it.
Cause and Fault Yet to Be Established
At present, it remains unclear what exactly caused the two cars to collide and which driver was at fault. Police said the circumstances leading to the accident are being investigated.
Authorities stated that further legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
The injured man's family has also sought appropriate action after the incident, while police continue to examine the CCTV footage and statements from those involved and witnesses.
