Bikram Majithia granted bail in Majitha police station case

Sessions court orders bail for Bikram Majithia, defence calls case politically motivated and lacking proof

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia was granted bail by a court today leading to celebrations among his supporters and party workers. The court granted bail after hearing arguments from both prosecution and defense and considering facts presented during proceedings. Following the decision members of Shiromani Akali Dal welcomed the verdict and described it as a positive development and supporters gathered to express their happiness after court's order.

Majithia's lawyer, Advocate Amanbir Singh Siali welcomed the decision and thanked Sessions Judge Monica Sharma for delivering the verdict after considering all aspects of case and he said the court examined documents and information presented before reaching its conclusion. According to Siali the defense argued that sufficient evidence had not been presented to support the allegations made in the case and also stated that the court had sought information related to CCTV footage and other records from investigating agency during proceedings. The defense maintained that adequate evidence supporting the allegations could not be presented before court.

The lawyer further stated that Majithia was present at the location peacefully and had not committed any act that would amount to a legal offense and also claimed that action had been taken against several Akali workers in connection with the matter. The defense described the case as politically motivated. Another defense lawyer Advocate Pradeep Saini also welcomed the court's decision and said the verdict was delivered after careful consideration of all facts and legal aspects of the case and according to him the ruling reflects the independence of judiciary and shows that courts make decisions based on law and facts placed before them.

Saini said the defense had confidence in its case from the beginning and that the court's decision had strengthened that belief and also thanked fellow lawyers, members of Amritsar Bar Association and others who supported the legal team during the proceedings. The court's decision has now shifted attention to next stages of legal process meanwhile leaders and workers of Shiromani Akali Dal have welcomed the verdict and described it as a victory for justice.
