After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Punjab, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major organisational reshuffle by appointing 16 district presidents across the state. The appointments were announced on July 18 through an official notification issued by BJP Punjab State General Secretary Rakesh Rathour.
Key appointments made
According to the notification, the appointments have been made with the consent of BJP National President Nitin Nabin and under the leadership of Punjab BJP President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon. The move is being seen as part of the party's efforts to strengthen its organisational structure in Punjab ahead of future political challenges.
Among the key appointments, Ashok Sareen Hicky has been named the District President of Jalandhar Urban, while Jagbir Singh Brar has been appointed as the District President of Jalandhar Rural South. In Jalandhar Rural North, the party has entrusted the responsibility to Manmeet Singh Vicky.
District Presidents appointed
The BJP has also announced district presidents for several other districts across Punjab. Kanwarbir Singh Manzil has been appointed for Amritsar Rural (Majitha), while Salil Kapoor will lead Amritsar Urban. Narinder Garg Neeta has been named the district president of Barnala, and Gaurav Kakar will head the party organisation in Faridkot.
Similarly, Sukhwinder Singh Kaka Kamboj has been appointed as the district president for Fazilka, Yogesh Sapra for Hoshiarpur Rural, Satish Thakur Bawa for Hoshiarpur Urban, Chetan Suri for Kapurthala, and Sunil Moudgill for Ludhiana Urban.
The party has also appointed Satish Asija as the district president of Muktsar, Ajayveer Singh Lalpura for Ropar, Matinder Singh for Sangrur-1, and Satnam Singh Bhullar for Tarn Taran.
POV of political observers
Political observers believe the appointments reflect the BJP's strategy to strengthen its grassroots organisation and prepare for upcoming political campaigns in the state. The announcement comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Punjab visit, during which the party focused on development projects and organisational outreach.
Crucial expectations from the presidents
The newly appointed district presidents are expected to play a crucial role in expanding the BJP's presence at the grassroots level, coordinating with local workers, strengthening booth-level organisation, and preparing the party for future electoral battles in Punjab. The appointments are likely to give fresh momentum to the BJP's organisational activities across the state in the coming months.
