The blast has been reported by many eyewitnesses late evening on the same day at the BSF Headquarters Jalandhar on the road to the Gurunanakpura area.
It is reported by eyewitnesses that initially, the scooter caught fire, and shortly afterwards, a blast was heard.
As per sources, an explosion took place at about 8:15 pm when the scooter, which was found to be an Activa belonging to a Flipkart delivery executive, was kept near the gate. It is reported that at the time of the incident, the individual responsible for delivering the package, whose name is Gurpreet, was present within the premises of BSF and was delivering a package when the explosion occurred behind him.
Sources also reveal that at first, the scooter had caught fire, and later there was an explosion. Residents of the locality immediately vacated the premises following the incident and informed the authorities about the same.
The local police arrived at the scene quickly following the notification and ensured that the premises were secured. As per the Commissioner of Police, Dhanpreet Kaur, a patrol team was present on the street when the incident happened. She further disclosed that at first, the scooter had caught fire before the explosion occurred.
She added that everything about the case is under investigation by the team.
