A late-night road accident took place on Kala Singha Road in Jalandhar when a speeding Bolero pickup vehicle rammed into a parked Activa scooter. Local residents informed the police, who reached the spot and began investigating the incident. Allegedly the bolero driver suffered a silent heart attack and the woman with the driver fled the scene after accident.
Statements by the eyewitnesses
According to the eyewitnesses, the bolero pickup vehicle regularly used to park in the colony. The people sitting outside their houses saw the driver lose control of the vehicle. This led to a collision in the parked Activa and the Bolero. The Activa owner informed that he had parked hi Activa outside the house, when he heard a loud crash and came out to check. The people sitting nearby escaped without injuries however the Activa suffered major damage.
Conversation with the Activa owner
The Activa owner, resident of the Dubai colony informed that he had parked his Activa outside his house when he heard a loud crash and came running. Informing about himself, he said that he is an E-rickshaw driver and had bought the Activa on instalments and had paid one that day itself. He also expressed how difficult it is for him to pat for it and run his livelihood. He said it was fortunate that no body was subjected to any injury.
The Bolero driver and the woman
According to eyewitnesses and the police's preliminary investigation, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the parked scooter. Police personnel found the driver unconscious inside the vehicle and immediately administered CPR at the scene. When an ambulance was unavailable, they transported him to a nearby hospital in their official vehicle. Meanwhile, a woman who was travelling in the vehicle reportedly left the scene after the accident. According to people at the scene and the police, the Bolero driver is a resident of Guru Nanak Colony and was known to park his vehicle in the area regularly. Eyewitnesses also claimed that a woman travelling in the Bolero, believed to be known to the driver, fled the spot immediately after the accident.
Investigation by the police
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from Division No. 5 Police Station reached the scene. Seeing the driver's critical condition, officers promptly administered CPR. As they were unable to get a government ambulance in time, they shifted the unconscious driver to the nearest hospital in their own police vehicle. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and cleared the damaged vehicle from the road to restore traffic.
