Bomb threat to Jiya Lal Mittal School in Gurdaspur, other institutes turns out to be hoax

The e-mail states that the use of Tricolor national flag of India should be banned during the Republic Day celebrations.

Jiya Lal Mittal School, located on the Gurdaspur–Kalanaur Road, along with some other schools has recently received a bomb threat via e-mail. The e-mail had threatened to blow up the school by 1:11PM. In the e-mail it was also mentioned that some other schools along with the Jiya Lal Mittal School would be blown up today.

The e-mail further warns the parents to save their kids. It also states that the use of Tricolor national flag of India should be banned during the Republic Day celebrations. The mail appears to have been sent by ‘Punjab hul Khalistan’. The e-mail also mentions Bhagwant Singh Mann and claims that he is the target too.

Talking about the incident, the DSP Rajinder Minhas after reaching Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Daburi says that there is no need to panic as the bomb rumors turned out to be completely false and baseless. He adds that the bomb rumors have turned out to be complete hoax as all the school premises that were targeted were thoroughly investigated. Currently, the police affirm that they are in alert mode and the source of the e-mail is being investigated. Relevant information regarding any update in the case would be shared soon.
