Panic gripped residents of Mohalla Kot Baba Deep Singh on Sodal Road in Jalandhar after two brothers were brutally assaulted in broad daylight by a group of men. The shocking incident, which unfolded right outside a local Gurdwara Sahib, was caught on CCTV cameras and has since gone viral in the area.
According to the victims’ family, the incident began when Surinder Singh, son of Jaswinder Singh, was suddenly targeted by a group of youths identified as Nana, Sagar, Goldy, Kala, and Atma Singh. Eyewitnesses said the accused were already standing outside the gurdwara and appeared to have been waiting. Armed with sticks and other blunt objects, they surrounded Surinder and launched a violent attack.
Hearing of the assault, Surinder’s brother Amrik Singh rushed to the spot to rescue him. However, the mob turned on him as well, thrashing him in full public view. Though Amrik escaped with relatively minor injuries, Surinder was left badly wounded. With the help of local residents, both brothers were rushed to the Civil Hospital, where Surinder continues to receive treatment. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is now stable.
CCTV footage from cameras installed at the gurdwara has provided clear evidence of the attack, showing the group repeatedly beating the brothers. The video has intensified outrage among residents, who say the brazenness of the attack reflects “open hooliganism” in the locality. Many locals fear such unchecked violence could disturb the peace in the area.
The victims’ family has alleged that the assault was premeditated. “They were waiting for my sons and had planned everything in advance,” Jaswinder Singh said, demanding immediate arrests. Residents of the area have also appealed to the administration to take strict action, warning that such incidents undermine public safety if left unchecked.
Police officials confirmed that they have seized the CCTV footage and registered a case. “We are investigating the matter and the accused will be apprehended soon,” an officer said.
