Today, the Punjab Cabinet meeting took place under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann, where many big decisions were taken. After the meeting was concluded the Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema briefed the media about the decisions taken by the Cabinet.

  • Extension of OTS scheme

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema shares that the One-Time Settlement scheme introduced for the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC), which was initially valid till February 13, 2025 has now been extended to June 30, 2026.

  • Compensation to flood hit farmers

The Mann government has taken a decision favoring farmers who suffered losses during the floods last year. Giving information about the same Harpal Cheema said that the farmers cultivating on land owned by the government will also get compensation for the losses that they endured. As per information, a committee of Panchayat representatives, Numbardars and Patwaris will identify the beneficiaries.

  • Soil requirement for Ropar-Ludhiana highway resolved

The Minister informs that the soil requirement for the Ropar-Ludhiana highway has also been looked into and resolved. He informs that the state government has approved the use of desilting soil and the soil price will be charged at the rate of Rs 3 per cubic foot.

  • Special edge to COVID-19 volunteers

Harpal Cheema informs that 361 posts of Staff Nurse Group C have been approved. Along with this he also announced that the COVID-19 volunteers will get special advantage while applying for jobs.

  • New posts announced, recruitments soon

The government also announced two new posts in the Economic Policy and Planning Department under Punjab Planning Department. Along with these three posts of non-governmental experts has been increased to five. And the recruitments will be done soon.

  • Reward money hiked to curb gangsterism

A major step has been taken to curb gangsterism, the government has increased reward money to catch gangsters and further strengthened the intelligence system. Now the revised reward money is: Rs 1 Lakh up to the post of SSP, Rs 1.5 Lakh up to the IG/DIG range, Rs 2 Lakh up to the post of ADGP/DGP.
