CM Bhagwant Mann on Friday attended a state-level event held at Baba Bakala on the occasion of Rakhar Punnya and extended Rakhi greetings to Punjabis and during the event, Mann said women were being given a Rakhi gift through the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojana.
He said the scheme was launched on International Women’s Day to provide financial support and honour to mothers and daughters.
So far, ₹2,455.92 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 70,92,303 women and on the occasion of Rakhi, ₹181.50 crore is being given to 5,30,303 mothers and sisters.
Eligible women are receiving ₹3,000 to ₹4,500 in their accounts as part of the financial assistance.
A large number of women attended the Baba Bakala event and thanked the Punjab government for the financial assistance.
During the event, CM Mann said the number of jobs provided under the state government’s ‘Rozgar Kranti’ has reached 70,840.
Mann said the figure includes 1,746 appointment letters handed over on Thursday and said the number was significant and added that a large share of those appointed came from families in need.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the performance of students from Punjab’s government schools in the NEET examination, he said only 80 students from government schools had cleared NEET in 2021 and according to Mann, the number has now increased to 882 students this year, which he attributed to the state government’s ‘Sikhiya Kranti’.
Mann said the figures on employment and education reflected the impact of the government’s initiatives in Punjab, he also said the beneficiaries of the employment drive largely belonged to families that needed stable job opportunities.
The remarks were made while highlighting the state government’s work in employment and education.
CM Mann also took a dig at the Congress over its internal differences during the Rakhar Punya conference and claimed that the party was focused on its own “fiefdoms” and the race for positions instead of issues concerning Punjab. He said the Rakhar Punya conference also nearly became a victim of the Congress’ internal strife.
According to Mann, two separate stages were set up by Congress leaders at the event, reflecting the divisions within the party.
The Chief Minister said the ongoing differences among Congress leaders showed no signs of ending and he alleged that the internal fights had taken priority over Punjab’s interests.
Mann said the developments showed that Punjab was not on the agenda of the Congress leadership and the remarks came as the Congress faced visible differences at the Rakhar Punya conference.
