CM Mann transfers entire police post staff over drug deaths

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann acts on complaint; 11 staff shifted after inaction on drug-related deaths in Bathinda village

Bhagwant Mann has ordered the transfer of the entire staff of a police post in Bathinda following complaints of inaction over drug-related deaths.

The action was taken against personnel posted at the Court Samir police post under the Sadar police station after allegations surfaced that no effective steps were taken despite rising deaths linked to drug abuse in the area.

The complaint was submitted directly to the Chief Minister by the sarpanch of Gulabgarh village. Acting on the grievance, the government transferred a total of 11 personnel, including three ASIs, four senior constables, one constable, and three home guards.

The decision was taken during a public meeting held on Sunday (April 5) at the Balwant Gargi Auditorium in Bathinda, where the Chief Minister interacted with party workers, local leaders, administrative officials, and residents.

During the meeting, several panchs, sarpanchs, and citizens raised concerns regarding governance issues, including the growing drug menace. Taking serious note of the complaints, Mann ordered immediate action, signalling a strict stance against negligence in tackling drug-related issues.

The move is being seen as a strong administrative response aimed at ensuring accountability at the grassroots level amid ongoing concerns over drug abuse in Punjab.
