In a significant political development in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a major boost as several leaders from Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined the party.
The induction was facilitated by Rajbir Singh Ghuman, OSD to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who formally welcomed the leaders into the party fold.
Nearly three dozen sarpanches, panches, and other senior leaders switched allegiance to AAP, marking a notable shift in the political landscape of the state. Among the prominent entrants were Sahib Singh Chhajalwadi, Vice President of Punjab Congress (SC Wing), and Sarabjit Kaur, District President of Amritsar Rural Mahila Congress, along with several other Congress leaders.
The leaders stated that they were impressed by the pro-people policies and governance model of the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, which motivated their decision to join AAP.
On the occasion, Chairman of the Punjab Khadi Welfare Board, Gagandeep Singh Ahluwalia, was also present.
The development is being seen as a significant gain for AAP as it continues to strengthen its base across Punjab ahead of upcoming political challenges.
