Commissionerate police Jalandhar arrested accused who snatched car at gunpoint near Chick-Chick House within hours after encounter

Two cars and a pistol recovered; accused caught from Raiya and Green Avenue Colony, Amritsar Rural

In a major breakthrough against criminal activities in the city, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar arrested the accused involved in a car snatching case near Chick-Chick House within hours after an encounter, recovering two cars and weapons.

Sharing the details, CP Jalandhar Dhanpreet Kaur said that on 28.08.2025, FIR No.109 dated 28.08.2025 u/s 304(2), 3(5) BNS 2023 was registered at PS Division No. 2 regarding the gunpoint car snatching incident from Paramjit Singh near Chick-Chick House.

Taking immediate action on this incident, a team under the direct supervision of Manpreet Singh Dhillon (DCP INV.), Jayant Puri (ADCP INV.), Paramjit Singh (ADCP) and. Amandeep Singh (ACP Central) and the police team under the leadership of SHO PS Division No. 2. Jaswinder Singh and CIA Incharge Surinder Kumar was formed. During the investigation, with the help of CCTV footage, technical assistance, and other sources, police traced the accused, near Raiya, about half a kilometer towards Amritsar, where the snatched car Beat PB10-DN-9944 and another white Hyundai Santro PB02-BG-9103 were spotted. On noticing the police, the accused tried to escape and opened fire at the police team. In retaliation, the police party apprehended the accused Manjot Singh @ Mani son of Ashok Singh, resident of Budha Theh, PS Beas, District Amritsar (Rural) from the Santro car along with a 7.62mm pistol. Accordingly, FIR No. 167 dated 28.08.2025 u/s 109, 221, 136 BNS and 25 Arms Act was registered at PS Beas, District Amritsar (Rural).

She said that during this, the second accused, Hajoor Singh @ Manav son of Late Baljit Singh, resident of Budda Theh, PS Beas, District Amritsar (Rural), was also arrested from Green Avenue Colony, Raiya, along with the Beat car (PB10-DN-9944) which had been snatched from Chick-Chick House Jalandhar.

She further informed that the police remand of the accused has been obtained so that the accused can be questioned in depth to uncover their involvement in other incidents. She revealed that accused Hajoor Singh @ Manav already has three previous criminal cases registered against him. CP Jalandhar said that any kind of illegal activity will not be tolerated. Anyone attempting to disturb law and order in the city will face strict legal action.
