Under the directions of Shri Satinder Singh, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, and as part of the special drive being conducted against anti-social elements, Commissionerate Police Jalandhar has achieved a major success under the leadership of Shri Aditya S. Warrier, IPS, DCP City, Smt. Madhavi Sharma, PPS, ADCP City-2, and Shri Kulwinder Singh Virk, ACP Sub-Division-5 Cantonment, Jalandhar.
Under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Balkaran Singh, SHO Police Station Sadar, Jalandhar, on 18.09.2026, SI Narinder Mohan, In-charge Police Chowki Jandiala, along with accompanying police personnel, was conducting a checking operation at Jandiala Mor. During the naka, a Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration number PB-08-GB-1101 was stopped and searched. During the checking, the driver of the Scorpio and the clean-shaven person sitting beside him were asked to get the vehicle checked and produce their identity documents and driving licence. During the checking, the clean-shaven passenger took out a pistol and attempted to fire at the SI. The SI managed to grab hold of his arm and pushed it aside. In the process, the said person fired two shots, which struck the wall of a nearby dhaba. With great caution and with the assistance of the accompanying police personnel, both persons were overpowered and their identities were ascertained. The person who had fired the shots disclosed his name as Manpreet Singh alias Mani Shokar. Manpreet Singh and the Scorpio driver Dilpreet Singh, son of Gurnek Singh, were arrested as per law, and the pistol used in the firing, a GLOCK, along with 3 live rounds, was taken into police possession.
In this regard, FIR No. 367 dated 19.09.2026, under Sections 109 BNS and 25/27-54-59 of the Arms Act, was registered at Police Station Sadar, Commissionerate Jalandhar. During interrogation of accused Manpreet Singh alias Mani Shokar, 4 more pistols and 2 live rounds were recovered. Thus, a total of 5 pistols and 5 live rounds have been recovered in this case.

1. Manpreet Singh alias Mani Shokar, son of Jaswinder Singh, resident of Village Atti Baja, Phillaur, District Jalandhar — Arrested on 19.09.2026.
2. Dilpreet Singh, son of Gurnek Singh, resident of Village Dharam Singh Wala, Police Station Fatehgarh Panjtur, District Moga — Arrested on 19.09.2026.
3. Mehar Singh alias Prince, son of Lakhwinder Singh, resident of House No. 212, Street No. 02, New Azad Nagar, Bahadarke Road, Ludhiana — Arrested on 20.09.2026.

4. Walther Carl Walther Waffen fabrik Ulm/DO Model PP, Cal. 9mm P.A.K., Made in Germany, black-silver in colour.
5. One unmarked pistol, black and brown in colour.
6. 2 additional live rounds.
The matter is under investigation, and further interrogation of the accused is being conducted.
