Punjab may not be in sweater weather yet, but there is a noticeable change in the way mornings are beginning to feel.
After weeks of humid and heavy monsoon conditions, early mornings are starting to feel comparatively cooler and more comfortable across parts of the state. The change is especially noticeable when people step out early for walks, work or college.
A cooler start to the day
The difference is more about how the morning feels than a sudden drop into winter-like temperatures.
Current forecasts for Punjab still show warm afternoons, with daytime temperatures reaching the mid-to-high 30s in the coming days, while minimum temperatures remain around the low-to-mid 20s.
So while mornings may be feeling chillier, Punjab is not entering winter just yet.
Why does the morning feel different?
As the monsoon season moves towards its end, changes in humidity, cloud cover and overnight conditions can make the early hours feel noticeably different.
The sun also takes some time to build up the day’s heat. That creates a window in the morning when temperatures feel much more pleasant before the afternoon warmth returns.
For many people, this is the first small reminder that Punjab’s weather cycle is beginning to move towards the post-monsoon season.
From humid mornings to that early chill
The shift is perhaps most noticeable for people who leave home early.
Motorcyclists, morning walkers, students and office-goers can feel the difference more than those stepping out later in the day. A light breeze combined with comparatively lower morning temperatures can make the air feel cooler even when the afternoon remains hot.
And that contrast is likely to continue for a while — cooler mornings, warmer afternoons.
Winter is still not here
For anyone already reaching for their hoodies, there is still a wait.
The India Meteorological Department currently has no weather warning for Punjab through September 28, while the broader forecast continues to indicate warm conditions.
So Punjab’s morning chill should be viewed as a seasonal transition rather than the arrival of winter.
For now, the weather story is simple: the mornings are getting a little cooler, but Punjab is still holding on to the heat.
