In a major operation based on intelligence inputs, the Counter Intelligence Amritsar has busted a cross-border drug smuggling module and apprehended four accused. As per the reports, all the accused are the residents of village Daoke. That comes under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gharinda, in Amritsar district.
During this operation the police have recovered 5 kilograms of heroin from their possession and the preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused has links with a Pakistan-based smuggler. A FIR has been registered in this regard at the Police Station SSOC Amritsar. The police teams are conducting a thorough investigation into the case and trying to establish other possible links of the network. The Punjab Police has reaffirmed its commitment to completely dismantle the cross-border drug smuggling networks and ensured a drug-free Punjab.
