Daylight robbery in Hoshiarpur: Intruders dragged woman inside house, escaped with jewelery

The intruders dragged the woman inside her house, gagged her and threatened to kill her while demanding cupboard keys before fleeing with gold jewellery.

A woman was allegedly dragged and looted in her own house. Lalita Verma, a resident of Shivalik enclave, street no.1, Hoshiarpur was looted off her gold jewelery. The police was reported around 2:15 PM and they reached at the spot to start their investigation. The accused allegedly dragged her inside, gagged her, threatened to kill her and fled

Series of events

Giving information about the whole incident, Lalita Verma told that she was home alone when she felt someone at the backdoor of her house. When she went to check, she saw 2 men who had covered their faces. Reacting to this, the victim tried to scream. Preventing her from being loud she was brutally dragged inside the house. In addition to this her hands and legs were tied together and her mouth was stuffed with a piece of cloth. The accused kept on asking for her cupboard keys but the victim resisted to produce them the one. The men threatened the victim to use their sharp-edged weapon on her. While one of them held her, other kept searching for the keys. Only when the victim’s son entered the house, both of them flew. It was informed that they looted victim’s two gold rings and a pair of gold earrings with them.

Investigation of the police

Talking to Baljinder Singh, one of the police official present at the spot, it was told that the police was reported at around 2:15 PM and an incident of snatching came into light. The police reached at the residence of victim as soon as possible and started their investigation. The CCTV footages from nearby shops and places were seen as a part of preliminary investigation. Police officials said efforts are underway to identify the suspects and assured that those involved in the robbery would be arrested soon. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.

Reaction of the neighbors

When the neighbors felt a lot of commotion in the house, they knocked on the doors but nobody answered and doors were locked from inside. After continuous banging and knocking when nobody answered, they called the police. This incident has raised safety concerns among the residents and have created panic and fear in them.
