A shocking daylight robbery has been reported in Sultanpur Lodhi of Kapurthala district, where two sisters who had gone for a walk along the sacred Kali Bein river were robbed at knifepoint. Three armed miscreants arrived on a motorcycle, threatened the women, and fled after looting around four tolas of gold jewellery. The incident has created fear among residents of the area.
Identification of the victim
The victims have been identified as Baljit Kaur and Kulwinder Kaur, who are real sisters. According to information, Baljit Kaur had come to visit her sister Kulwinder Kaur’s house. On the advice of their family, both sisters went for a walk along the banks of the holy Kali Bein.
Series of events
According to the victims, they noticed three suspicious youths roaming in the area. However, after some time, the same youths approached them on a motorcycle, blocked their way, and attacked them, they tried to escape but fell to the ground in panic. One of the accused placed a sword on their neck, while the other two forced them to remove the gold ornaments they were wearing.
Pieces in stolen jewellery
The stolen jewellery included gold chains, rings, earrings, and other ornaments belonging to both sisters. The total weight of the stolen gold is estimated to be around four tolas.
Statements by the victims
Victim Baljit Kaur said that she was on a visit to her sister’s place when the incident took place. She mentioned that the accused did not give them any time to react. Due to fear of the sword, they were unable to defend themselves, and the robbers took away their gold chain, ring, and earrings.
Meanwhile, Kulwinder Kaur said that the incident took place the robbery took place around 4:45 in the evening and was extremely terrifying for them. The accused threatened to kill them while showing the sword and fled after snatching their gold chain, ring, earrings, and other jewellery. She has appealed to the police administration to arrest the accused at the earliest and take strict action against them.
Kulwinder mentioned that she suspected something fishy about the youths so she hid her earrings but had to produce them in front of the accused because of the sword.
Police investigation
Police officials said that the matter has come to their notice. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, along with other technical evidence. Police have assured that the accused will be identified and arrested soon.
