Taking a serious note of reports about inordinate delay in Surface Water Project, District Magistrate-Cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has ordered a detailed inquiry into the delay in the execution of the Surface Water Project in Jalandhar, following reports indicating that the project’s progress has fallen significantly behind schedule.
As per information, only 78 percent of the project work has been completed so far, legging behind the stipulated deadline. The delay has led to public inconvenience in several parts of the city, with dug-up roads, dust pollution, and traffic congestion affecting daily life.
Taking serious note of the situation, Dr. Aggarwal directed the Assistant Commissioner (General), Jalandhar, to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter. The investigation will focus on assessing the current physical and financial progress, identifying reasons for the delay, examining any lapses on the part of the executing agency, and reviewing monitoring efforts by concerned departments.
The Deputy Commissioner has further instructed that the inquiry report be submitted within seven days for necessary action. Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that ensuring timely completion of public welfare projects remains a top priority for the District Administration, adding that accountability and effective monitoring are essential to prevent further inconvenience to residents.
