DC reviews progress of Jalandhar Highway Projects, emphasizes speedy disposal of pending mutations

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today reviewed the progress of key highway projects underway in Jalandhar district, including the Delhi–Katra Expressway, the Amritsar–Bathinda project, and the Phagwara–Hoshiarpur highway, among others.

Taking stock of the current status of these projects, Dr. Aggarwal stressed the need for the speedy disposal of pending mutations in favour of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for land already acquired.

He instructed officials to prepare a detailed report on all pending mutations and ensure their swift resolution to expedite work on these crucial infrastructure projects.

Terming the ongoing highway projects “milestones for the district’s economic growth,” the Deputy Commissioner said enhanced regional connectivity would open new avenues for development. He called for a coordinated, inter-departmental effort to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing works.

In another key directive, Dr. Aggarwal asked NHAI officials to ensure proper cleanliness, functioning lights, deployment of police teams, and efficient traffic management along the Jalandhar–Phagwara highway. He also directed authorities to install signboards indicating the location of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) to facilitate students and parents visiting the premier institution.

The meeting also reviewed progress on the construction of an additional ramp at the PAP flyover, the disposal of rainwater along national highways, repairs of potholes, and ongoing beautification works. Dr. Aggarwal further emphasized the importance of making national highways safer for commuters, particularly with the fog season approaching.
