Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh recently found himself at the centre of a controversy after a section of the audience protested during one of his live concerts and according to reports the incident happened during a sold-out show where some people in the crowd were seen raising flags while the exact reason for the protest was not officially confirmed many people on social media linked it to Diljit’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
At that time Punjab was facing severe flood conditions and some critics felt that he should have been present in the state instead of appearing on an international platform.
Diljit did not ignore the protest instead paused and spoke directly to the audience in Punjabi and explained that his intention behind going on the international show was not to promote his songs or films but to talk about Punjab and bring global attention to the state and talking further about it he adds that national media often does not highlight Punjab enough so he used that platform to speak about it.
He also clarified that he and his team had already contributed to help people affected by the floods in Punjab and during his response he made it clear that protests would not stop him from speaking for his state and in a strong moment on stage he told the crowd they could raise as many flags as they wanted.
After this many people in the audience cheered and videos of the moment quickly spread on social media.
