Rail passengers travelling to and from Punjab will need to keep an eye on revised train timings as Northern Railway has announced schedule changes for several trains on the Amritsar route.
The changes have been introduced in connection with the operation of the new Chheharta–Varanasi (Shri Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan) Express, Train Nos. 14624/14623. According to the railway information, the revised timings will come into effect in phases from August 31, 2026, with some changes remaining applicable until November.
The update covers seven trains associated with Amritsar, including services arriving from Varanasi, CSMT, Purnia Court, Jayanagar and Kolkata.

New Train Behind the Schedule Changes
The revised timings have been linked to the introduction of the new 14624/14623 Chheharta–Varanasi–Chheharta Shri Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan Express.
Railway officials said the timetable has been adjusted to accommodate the new service and streamline train operations on the route.
Passengers Advised to Check Timings Before Travel
With the revised schedules coming into effect on different dates, passengers should not rely solely on their previous train timings.
Travellers are advised to check the latest schedule before leaving for the station, particularly for journeys planned between September and November 2026. A change of even 10–35 minutes could affect connections and station arrival plans.
