Mother raises alarm after stranger allegedly follows her inside school
Jalandhar witnessed a tense situation at Mata Gujri Khalsa Modern School in New Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar after a man was allegedly found inside the school premises under suspicious circumstances, triggering concerns among parents and staff.
According to the child’s mother, she had come to the school to drop her child when the man allegedly followed her inside. She raised an alarm after noticing his presence, following which school security and parents intervened.
The man reportedly gave different explanations when questioned about his presence. At different points, he allegedly claimed that he had come to get a child admitted to the school, that he was there to drop off a child, and that he had come to meet his brother.
Parents question how the man entered the school
The incident soon led to a commotion outside the school as parents and local residents questioned the security arrangements on the premises.
The child’s mother reportedly said that the man had been seen roaming around the area for some time and had also been asking people in the locality about the whereabouts of children. However, his identity or purpose could not be established at the time.
Parents raised questions over how an unidentified person was able to enter the school premises despite security arrangements. One woman said that her own child studies at the school and that parents are generally not allowed to enter freely, prompting her to question how the man managed to get inside.
Man allegedly beaten by locals before police arrive
As suspicion grew, parents and security personnel reportedly confronted and detained the man. During the ensuing commotion, some people allegedly assaulted him and subjected him to a public beating before police were informed.
The situation remained tense for some time before personnel from Basti Bawa Khel police station reached the spot. Police took the man into custody and subsequently took him to the police station for questioning.
At this stage, the circumstances behind his presence inside the school and his exact intentions remain subject to police inquiry.
School management explains security response
The school management said that the man had approached the school claiming that he wanted to inquire about admission. According to the management, he was allowed only up to the reception area.
The management further stated that parents and security personnel became suspicious during questioning and, with their intervention, the man was detained and handed over to the police.
The incident, however, has sparked concerns among parents about security protocols at educational institutions. With children spending several hours inside school premises every day, parents are now seeking clarity over how visitors are screened and how unauthorised entry is prevented.
