Dressed in suit, thieves enter Amritsar wedding, flee with shagun cash and gold

The two 'well-dressed' men entered the wedding at Maribella Marriage Palace and fled with a bag containing cash given as shagun and gold ornaments.

At a time when the marriage season is yet to peak in Punjab and other states of India, a concerning incident took place recently. 2 mean wore formal suits and entered into a wedding ceremony in Amritsar. As per reports, the two 'well-dressed' men entered the wedding and fled with a bag containing cash given as shagun and gold ornaments.

The incident reportedly took place at Maribella Marriage Palace, located on the Amritsar–Vallah Bypass, on Wednesday evening.

After the bag went missing, the Wedding Palace owners reviewed the CCTV footage of the wedding ceremony and saw a man running away with the bag, while another suspect was also captured on camera. Police have registered a case and seized the CCTV footage and launched an investigation.

During the review of the CCTV by the bride and groom's family, none of them identified the two men who were at the wedding. When CCTV footage was examined, it was clear that the two accused had been roaming around the wedding ceremony for approximately one and a half hours.

During this time, they identified the bag full of money, conducted a recce, and planned to steal the bag. As per reports, one of the suspects approached the bag, which was placed among family members, and quietly picked it up before walking away.

The family informed the police in their complaint that the accused stole a bag full of jewellry and shagun. The bag contained three gold rings and an estimated cash of Rs 6-7 lakh, which had been collected as shagun during the wedding. The police have currently seized the CCTV footage. An investigation has been launched.
