Drunk Chandigarh cop causes multiple accidents, sparks public outrage after video goes viral online

Locals chase, corner and hand over allegedly drunk Chandigarh cop after multiple crashes, question double standards in policing

A Chandigarh Police Head Constable has come under serious allegations after he was accused of driving in heavily intoxicated condition and causing multiple accidents late on Thursday night in Chandigarh and the incident created chaos in the area, drew a large crowd and sparked public anger after videos related to the matter went viral on social media.

According to information received the accused police personnel has been identified as Head Constable Jaipal and it is being alleged that he was driving a Hyundai Venue car when he first hit a young man riding an Activa scooter near government school located in Pocket No. 1 behind Civil Hospital area and the injured youth has been identified as Kuldeep Chand.

Reports suggest that Kuldeep Chand was passing through the area on his scooter when a speeding car allegedly rammed into his Activa from behind with great force and due to impact Kuldeep fell onto the road and suffered serious injuries and it has been reported that he sustained a fracture in his right arm in the accident.

Eyewitnesses claimed that instead of stopping after the collision the accused Head Constable allegedly attempted to flee from the spot however local residents and bystanders reportedly started chasing the vehicle after witnessing the incident and during the chase the accused allegedly hit another Activa rider near Mori Gate market area causing further panic among people present there.

Soon after the second collision angry locals surrounded the vehicle and stopped accused from escaping further and people at the scene allegedly apprehended the police personnel and later handed him over to police authorities.

One detail from the incident particularly caught public attention and quickly became a talking point on social media and according to eyewitnesses the accused Head Constable was allegedly wearing mismatched footwear at the time of the incident and people even claimed that he had a woman’s footwear on one foot and a slipper on the other while many people present at the scene were seen laughing in disbelief, others questioned the condition in which the police personnel was allegedly driving.

Following the incident a large crowd gathered at the spot and raised slogans against police administration and many people expressed anger and frustration over the matter and several locals questioned public safety and alleged that strict action is often taken against common citizens but when police personnel are accused of wrongdoing the matter is allegedly handled differently.

Residents present at the scene reportedly raised concerns over accountability within the police department and some people alleged that in many such cases involving police personnel, officials are simply transferred or reassigned instead of facing strict legal consequences.

After receiving information about this matter police officials from Manimajra police station reached the scene and the accused Head Constable Jaipal was taken into custody by police and further investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Meanwhile videos related to the incident have gone viral across social media platforms drawing strong reactions from public many users online have also demanded strict action in the case and called for accountability if allegations against the police personnel are proven true.
