The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted a raid on the nephew of Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and teams have arrived in Ludhiana, where the residence of the minister's nephew, Prince, is being searched.
This raid is part of the ongoing operation involving the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) that began on Tuesday.
An ED raid is also underway at the Chandigarh residence of Rajiv Gupta, a senior Punjab IAS officer and former Chief Administrator of GMADA and the ED's operation, initiated on Tuesday morning regarding a money laundering case, involves searches and surveys at 26 locations across Delhi, Mohali, Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Ludhiana.
ED teams spent the night scrutinizing records at PUDA Bhawan in Mohali's Phase-8. The investigating agency also sealed off certain sections of the GMADA headquarters. The investigation focuses on alleged financial concessions granted by GMADA to Tirupati Infraprojects and associated companies regarding two major auction sites.
According to the ED, this is suspected to have resulted in an undue gain of over ₹100 crore for the companies and a corresponding loss to the state exchequer. Following the raids, leaders from the Congress and BJP have raised questions regarding the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Meanwhile, AAP has alleged that the actions of central agencies are being used to pressure Punjab government officials and disrupt GMADA's operations. The party stated that the government's welfare schemes including the 'Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana' and development projects in Mohali would continue.
