The Enforcement Directorate’s search operation at the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) headquarters in Mohali continued for a second day on Wednesday, with ED officials and several government officers remaining at the premises as the agency continued examining records.
The operation began on Tuesday. At least three floors of the GMADA building were sealed during the action, while mobile phones of senior officials and office computers were also taken into custody, according to reports.
More than 100 ED and central-force personnel were reportedly present at the Phase 8 premises on Wednesday as the search and questioning continued. The ED also sought additional personnel as the operation progressed.
Vikas Garg Taken Home to Freshen Up
Punjab Housing Secretary Vikas Garg was taken in an ED vehicle to his residence on Wednesday afternoon to freshen up, sources said.
According to sources, the vehicle reportedly left through a gate where mediapersons were not present and later returned through the same gate.
Three Floors Sealed
The ED has continued its examination of records at the GMADA headquarters after sealing three floors of the building on Tuesday. Senior GMADA officials were questioned during the operation, with the agency examining documents and other material connected with its probe.
Mattresses Arrive at GMADA Office
As the operation extended into another night, additional mattresses were brought to the premises for the ED team and officials staying inside the building. The mattresses were reportedly brought from a nearby gurdwara and were seen being transported on a two-wheeler. Meals were also being arranged locally.
The ED has not issued a detailed public statement on the findings of the ongoing operation. The search and examination of records at the GMADA premises continued on Wednesday evening.
