Former ED officer Niranjan Singh addressed a press conference at Jalandhar Press Club on Saturday and made some explosive claims on the dismissed AIG officer Raj Jit Singh Hundal. Niranjan Singh outlined how he tried to circle some tainted Police officers in Punjab including Raj Jit Singh Hundal and even submitted his report in the court but no action was taken.
Niranjan Singh accused former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh of not taking action against Raj Jit Singh Hundal.
Niranjan Sing stated that the current Punjab government has been successful in curbing drug abuse to some extent, but has not been able to completely eliminate it.
He made serious allegations against several political figures and police officers regarding drug case. He accused the previous Congress government, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, of making every effort to protect Raj Jit, while the current government dismissed him but failed to arrest him.
He stated that while working against major drug smugglers in Punjab, he had gathered considerable evidence and presented the report in court.
However, successive governments have also made every effort to protect these accused, which is why no government has been able to completely eradicate drug abuse in Punjab.
Specifically, regarding Raj Jit's case, he stated that when he gathered all the evidence and informed Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh about it, he took no action, and Raj Jit was completely protected.
Niranjan Singh further alleged that Raj Jit was the one who completely ran the drug system, but no action was being taken against him by the governments, and this is why drug abuse started increasing in Punjab.
Raj Jit is accused of running a police-drugs smuggler nexus.
The former ED officer alleged that when the Raj jit chargesheet was about to reach the Supreme Court, Delhi ED officials, including a senior officer named Colonel Singh, shifted the case to the Delhi office to prevent any further action.
Regarding Bikram Majithia's case, he said that previous governments had not taken any action. He said that the High Court report clearly stated that the case was not taken by previous governments. However, not only the government, but even ED officials had not taken any action against Bikram Majithia.
