Woman critically injured in late-night accident on Kapurthala-Jalandhar Road
A tragic road accident was reported late at night near village Athoula on the Kapurthala-Jalandhar Road, where a truck collided with a motorcycle carrying a family of three. The accident claimed the lives of a 40-year-old man and his five-year-old son, while the woman riding with them was seriously injured.
Family was travelling towards Athoula
According to the information available, Gauri, wife of Kailash and a resident of Bihar currently living in village Athoula, was travelling with her husband Kailash and their five-year-old son Lavkush on a motorcycle.
The family was reportedly returning from Kapurthala towards Athoula when their motorcycle collided with a truck near the village on Jalandhar Road.
Five-year-old died at spot
The collision was reportedly severe. Five-year-old Lavkush died at the spot, while Kailash and Gauri sustained serious injuries.
Both injured persons were taken to Civil Hospital Kapurthala with the help of a 108 ambulance. Dr Jashan, who was on duty at the hospital, examined Kailash and declared him dead. Gauri remains under treatment.
Police initiate action
Following the incident, a PCR team also reached Civil Hospital Kapurthala. PCR in-charge Ranjit Singh said the concerned police station linked to the Jalandhar side had been informed about the accident.
The body of Kailash has been kept in the mortuary of Civil Hospital Kapurthala. Police are carrying out the necessary proceedings in connection with the accident.
